Dream of the Fisherman's Husband II
Acrylic on canvas

Dream of the Fisherman's Husband II continues a series of bright, erotic, playful paintings drawing loosely on Hokusai, Matisse's Pink Nude of 1935, and early photographic images of male bodies.
The work turns those sources into something stranger and more contemporary: part myth, part joke, and part dream. The flattened magenta field gives the painting a stage-like directness, while the blue figure, animal forms, and comic exaggerations create a tension between innocence, desire, absurdity, and pleasure.
Rather than treating sexuality as solemn or hidden, the painting makes it visible, awkward, funny, decorative, and alive. It belongs to a larger body of work exploring queer imagery through colour, distortion, humour, and the freedom of drawing.
