Brendan Enright is a queer Irish artist who makes bold, colourful contemporary paintings about intuition, sexuality, shame, childhood, play and the question: Who are you?
His practice grows out of a long textile practice: knitting, spinning, dyeing, tufting, embroidery. That experience informs how he understands canvas, thread, pigment and surface - how materials warp, pull, resist and move together.
The work is playful, bodily, and psychologically charged. It draws from art history, dream logic, decorative excess, and the strange comedy of desire.
